Part 1
We're supposed to merge Second Renaissance and life itself, Instagram, and like it's just a billion things, like, Jarl's supposed to kind of also release some of the, it's just too much. There's just already too much. Valerie's supposed to produce a white paper and record a course. Jarl is supposed to produce, explore, it just, it's too much, it's too much. It's too much. I know it's held by several people, but even if it's several people, it's too much. I don't have any sense of like priorities. I don't have a sense of like what should happen first. So we're supposed to like have a call with a woman to start unlocking the kind of community stuff. It's just, it's a mess. But if I'm trying to like, I would do rebrand first, podcast structure, design a course arc, like, okay, what are the different course, how they play together. Yeah, if I could just stop at that, that's already good. I don't want, like I'd like to start doing that before, like, I can't, if there's too many streams, I get overwhelmed. The one thing I would do is like, like, I asked Armand, like, can you write, do you like writing? Of course, he does also like writing. Like I'd start, Armand probably write these and me. I was like, she could possibly write on Substack, you know, once a week or once every two weeks, start producing something. I don't know, there's, there's too many things going on at the same time. It's a mess. It feels messy and chaotic. What I kind of would like is just me not having to track any of this. It's like, okay, Java, you go and do it, you know? You do the course arc. Seems some of the things that are a blocker for people, it's mostly like secondary songs, website, social media, public presence, and life itself also. I also I'm hesitating about the magazine, like I'm really enjoying doing this, but is it a good use of my time and of Armand's time, you know? To go contact couple of stores, it might not take too much time. You know, maybe I'm overprinting. I shouldn't print 250 copies. Maybe I should only print. It's not costing that much. I'd print 250 copies. Did you want any input from me, or… So, I think, first of all, to see… Can I say the output eventually I want, which is not what we're producing today, but in general, it's like, it's a calendar. We're doing this this week. We're doing this this week. We're doing this this week. The driver is doing this this week. It's like, for example, it's quite clear. It's like, for me, like, suppose, like, ready, you're working on producing the course content from this time to this time. Okay, you, like, it needs to be finished by then. But, like, just like a very clear each person, what you're doing and when is your deadline. You know, that's just what I want. Yes. That's what you're doing and that's what your goal is. That's why I was trying to show people yesterday when I did the share the spreadsheet. But I mean, I don't, so I'm in agreement. That's what people… I don't want it showing like that. I want to show it by person. For you, person. The problem is, you need a pivot, right? You're trying to show three dimensions on a two-dimensional sheet. You have time, you have project, like what they're doing, and you have the person. At any given time, I can only show two of those things. Yeah? Yes, but prior to you I'm saying… There's people. They're people. I got you, but… They don't want, me, I don't want to see that. I understand. I know that already. There's something, but I still need to get the information in one form or another. And then I can pivot it one or the other way. Yeah? Yeah, but I agree, that's exactly what you want. And what you also described is exactly correct. You want a due date of where there's some kind of output. Yeah, the project may then continue. There might be announcements, but what are the next milestones? What's the next major thing that will be produced? When? Yeah, I agree. Can I also make a suggestion of what the focus is from what you were saying? So I also think that there's a point that in general, given the size of the team, there wants to be maybe maximum two major things at a time, if possible, we're working on. And then when one of those is completed, or at least a milestone is completed, we can move to something else. Yeah? And so I think at the moment, I think you're completely right that the focus should be on the rebrand and any strategic and materials work that goes with that. Now, I would say that the other thing that can go on in the background is content production, but not necessarily release or any kind of needing to do a campaign. So I think Giles can finish the material with Valerie. He could even plan what would be done with the second resource course. He can even produce, sometimes explain a video a little bit. We could see. I'm not sure about that, but if I'm honest, I'd even like to have Jonathan, all of us in a room all working on putting together the new second resource website and other things, you know. And the website is one output of that rebrand and re-architecture. But essentially, it's only you and Armelle, that's what you work on. the rebrand, the new Second Renaissance website, like, out of that will come certain things. I would even say in terms of, for example, what I would then do somewhat ruthlessly is say, all other announcements, like we're not, unless we've got some partner that we commit to, like we're supposed to keep something on by the beginning of June or something, doesn't, we'll come to that. Basically, any deadlines for things where we're gonna publish, we, they're loose at the moment. So for example, the magazine, rather than having a pressure that this is gonna go out in mid-June, I'd be like, let's hope it does. But it, it will, that we'll actually decide that when we ship this other thing. Because otherwise, what happens is we feel like, oh my God, we've got to get this thing done by this day or there's this other thing that's gonna come along, you know, blah, blah, blah. So I would say, does it matter if the mythsos magazine goes out in mid-July or late June or even September, frankly, you know? It doesn't matter. Like, in my view. I think also it doesn't matter when the two Archon videos go out. It does not, I would also even say things like, oh, you know, like, when we do the rebrand, we then need these three podcasts that go out after. I'm like, fuck it. We've never been that organised before. I think we get this thing done, at least set up, ready, and what we can then decide when we announce it, but we do, we can do a load of the work, like re-sorting out the website of Second Renaissance. And then the actual announce date when we send out the email can be probably early June. I think that's still very reasonable. But I'm like, I don't need to feel pressured, like, oh my God, by the end of May, we have to record the three podcasts so they're ready to go out when we do the announce. I'm like, they go out in early July. Fuck it. It doesn't matter if it's like a few weeks after we do the announce, you know? If we say, look, and there's gonna be some podcasts coming up that really talk about where we've been and where we're going, if they come out a few weeks later, who cares? Yeah, I don't think we need to put Substack yet regularly. If we do, great. But I think I would have one thing at a time, and one thing at a time is the rebrand, the reorientation. I would also say out of that will naturally come a calendar for the rest of the year of things that we are trying to announce or do. Yeah, so I also during this period, I think naturally will be things like, what is our podcast series we want to do the rest of the year? And then we need to announce my thing, or we can already just get people can prepay. And get it. They're already prepaying and buying it. Yes, and so I can, the whole thing is like I'll send it to a couple of shops. Like, it doesn't need to be a big thing. No, it doesn't need to be a big thing. And we can do an event for it at some point because that's nice, but when we feel we've got the space that we're now set up, we do one thing.
Part 2
May is the second one, like the basically, I think it started a bottom-up, but it's the second phase of the website and the design system. And then that will generally lead into, like, how do we, what is the overall brand, more than just like design system, what is the details of the strategy and how we roll this out? June, at the moment anticipated, we'll be rolling that out and starting to release content. Yeah? That we'll have, in parallel, Jonathan May will be producing content, organizing content, organizing the content backlog of stuff. Yeah? Tidying up video, et cetera. I may also do some work for Oren, which is again actually part of that, because it's really tidying up what we already have in a coherent form. June, we'll be rolling this out and starting to publish content. July will actually be that continuing with the events that you've got on, that you've got here. Yeah? August will be vacation to some extent. And then we'll see from September. September ideally really starts to run. Our course is launched. And I think your magazine will either go out in June if we find we have the spaciousness in terms, it will go out, but in terms of, do we do an event and an act, or we plan a launch for September, would be my view. An actual launch event. Yeah? Where we, like, invite the contributors, we have a webinar or whatever it is. Yeah? Yeah? Now it could be on pre-order and people can be already getting the magazine. There's no, it doesn't have to be at the beginning, but that event, I would say, would be like September. Yeah? That's my sense at the moment. Yeah? Now, I still allow space to do things on the magazine. I'm gonna have to launch the magazine in June. I don't kind of don't want to push the magazine to… But I'm saying a launch event. It doesn't, you can announce it, it's now online release. I know, but I'd like to do the launch event in June. But these are your tensions for you, because to do that, you will now need to do a bunch of preparation. You need to find a date. You need to advertise it. You need to promote it. It needs to come off. We've launched the brand. Theoretically, you should have happen after we've done the brand or when we know we're ready to launch the brand refresh. So it this is the secret thing, because if you put in a date now, which is what you really need to do to advertise it and get people to come, then you're committed to a date. Now you could say it's late June. I don't know. It's up to you, but this is what creates stress when you ask where does stress come from? That's where stress comes from. Yeah, and you know it. And that's why you don't end up with a tension in your shoe. And it ain't just me who causes these things in life. We're both a greedy about what we want done. And I agree with you. I would love to, I'm not saying it's impossible. You could do it and you could say mid-June, late June, I don't mind. And you could start advertising, but it will take up a good chunk of time to connect with people, get them to come, advertise it. Not huge, it could definitely happen. The main problem is it creates a sequencing, which is the brand refresh was to have rolled out. It makes total sense, though, for those two things. For your second… But it will create a hiatus because if we're gearing… I don't know, but it will create some tension in the field, I can tell. I just found it like kind of a bit, you do usually launch when the magazine is kind of like ready, not months, like, it's going to be ready by the end of May. So, so for now, how about late, does late June work? The week after I'm back from. Possibly, no, I'm not even, it's just, it doesn't work because now I have to put my energy into the rebrand. If I didn't have to put my energy in the rebrand, yes, I could do the launch, but because I now have to put the energy into the rebrand, I can't do both. I can't launch the magazine and do the rebrand. Well then all you'd have to push the rebrand off to launch the magazine. That, that's, that then puts it a lot potentially quite a way off. OK. Anyway, that's what I'm suggesting anyway. I've been suggesting a potential structure. You could create a formatted transcript below, but then the actual plan of sequencing at the beginning in a concise way, please do that.
